Requirement may be met with a research methods course in a discipline related to the student's research and approved by the student's graduate advisory committee.

Requirement may be met with a statistics course in mathematical sciences or in a discipline related to natural resources management.

These courses will be approved by the student’s graduate advisory committee. Up to 6 of the 30 credits may be F400-level courses.

Admission Requirements

Complete the following general university admission requirements for graduate programs:

  3. Official test results: GRE scores are not required for this program, but may be considered if submitted

  4. Submit resume/curriculum vitae

  5. Submit statement of academic goals

  6. Submit 3 letters of recommendation​

Additional program admission requirements and information:

  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in a relevant discipline is required for acceptance into the Natural Resources and Environment M.S. program. Candidates should have a general familiarity with the major resource fields. The student’s committee may require the student to take courses to remedy any deficiencies; these credits will not count toward the credits required for the degree. 
  • The statement of academic goals should include information about why you are applying for the degree, why you chose UAF and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and how such a degree would fit into your career goals.
  • Applications cannot be considered until all these items have been received by the Office of Admissions.
